Pharmaceutical Litigation
Fort Smith and Lowell, AR - Tulsa and Oklahoma City, OK.
When your doctor recommends a medication to help you feel better, you accept his or her suggestion without question. Why? Because you trust your doctor to prescribe the right medications in the right dosages based on the most recent medical standards of care and approval from the FDA. You believe your doctor has your best interests at heart, so you follow the advice. But the truth is a bitter pill to swallow. Each year, many pharmaceutical products are recalled; found to cause dangerous side effects that, for many unfortunate people, may have been discovered too late. Pharmaceutical litigation laws are the best way to fight for your rights if you or a loved one has been injured or killed because of a problem with medication.

Heparin
Heparin is an anticoagulant administered to over 12 million U.S. patients each year. Heparin helps to prevent blood clots. In 2007, Baxter Healthcare Corporation manufactured unsafe batches of Heparin in a Chinese factory that did not meet FDA standards. Hundreds of Heparin users suffered serious allergic reactions, including:
- Illness
- Breathing difficulties
- Hemorrhage
- Sweating
- Plummeting blood pressure
- Death
Chantix
Giving up smoking is a real health-related goal for many Americans. To meet this goal, over 3 million Americans currently take Chantix, also known as Verinicline Tartrate, to beat nicotine cravings. However, Chantix is now under investigation by the FDA after increasing evidence suggests the drug greatly increases patient risk of serious psychiatric episodes. Thirty-seven suicides and over 400 incidences of suicidal behavior have been linked to Chantrix, and it is widely believed this drug may cause patients to become agitated and clinically depressed.
Paxil
Paxil is a psychiatric drug, designed to regulate serotonin uptake and control mood swings and depression in adults and children. Some evidence exists that Paxil may actually contribute to the suicidal behaviors they are designed to control, so Paxil is currently under FDA investigation to determine if the drug is suitable for treatment of depression and other behavioural symptoms in children under 18.
ESAs (Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents)
Over the last year, the FDA has issued warnings regarding the safety of the ESAs Darbepoetin alfa (Aranesp) and Epoetin alfa (Epogen and Procrit), commonly prescribed to treat anemia. Studies have shown that, when given in high doses, ESAs can result in potentially lethal problems such as blood clots, strokes and heart attacks, and may speed up the growth of tumors in cancer patients.
